Doctors!

Jack had his two year check up this week! He didn't have to get any shots, thank goodness!
He weighs 34 pounds and is in the 99 percentile for head, height and weight! He's a big, healthy, proportionate boy!

I always feel like Doctor's appointments with my kids are parenting tests - Does he roll over? Does he sit up? Is he pooping okay? Does he talk? Does he walk? It's all a checklist to make sure that I, as a parent, am teaching them things and helping them develop basic skills (I obviously know its to make sure that the children are developing normally, just feels more like a test for me!). Well, for Jack's two year test - We passed with flying colors. We were told that Jack should be saying two or three two word sentences, well he says around 3 or 4 (Uncle Dustin, Oh Shit, There it is *three words!!*, All gone). He also knows over 15 body parts, 20 animal noise and can say around 25 words.

The doctor even used the word 'advanced'! Haha. What a proud moment for Clay and I. And, yes, I am bragging a lot!

Oh, and we have officially entered 'terrible twos'. I was hoping to just skip it - but family pictures yesterday proved otherwise. At least we got a few okay ones until the Fall when we will try again.

My little baby is all grown up...

Happy 2nd Birthday Jack-a-roo!

I can't even handle the thought of my little baby turning any older. Preschool is a curse word in this house. Being without my booger-butt for that long makes me weep! I love him so much!

His birthday party was Saturday, it was a huge success (a BIG thank you to everyone who came!). We had BBQ, a jump house, friends and family, and a Costco cake - what more do you need? Jack loved the bounce house and now jumps on anything that is remotely bouncy (couch, bed, blankets, dogs, Dad...).

This little boy is my whole world (well, him and his brother). I started making a list of all of the words, sentences and animal noises that he makes to take with us to the Doctor on Friday (I'm a crazy over prepared sort of Mommy). Clay and I have been worried since Jack doesn't seem to talk as much as other children his age but after writing all of the things that he knows down I'm thinking he just doesn't care to talk but can if he wants. We will see, I'm going to have a long conversation with the Doctor about his speech development. Jack knows over 20 words, 15 animal sounds and about 5 sentences if you count 'Uncle Dustin' and 'Oh Shit' as a sentence.

Owen is growing like a weed and has already out grown his 3-6 month p.j.s - The boy is just too tall! It's so much fun putting him in Jack's old outfits and remembering how old Jack was or what we did when Jack wore the outfit. Jack's first Christmas jammies don't fit Owen anymore, at least not without cutting off the circulation to his little toes. Jack was 4 months old when he wore them and Owen stopped wearing them around 3.5 months. Looks like Owen will be taller than his big brother!

Owen can roll from back to front and front to back if he wants. Though, he honestly has zero interest in moving around unless he is done with his tummy mat - then he just sort of rolls around out of frustration. He wants so badly to sit up he will do 30 second crunches in his bouncer seat. If balanced on a toy or propped up on his elbows he can sit up for almost a minute! He, like his big brother, is cutting teeth way too soon for my liking! Jack got his first teeth when he was 4 months old and it seems Owen will probably do the same.

Clayton is loving his job, I know I say that every time I update this with him in it - but he really does LOVE it. He applied to be a Team Leader, or supervisor, or Lead, whatever they call it. He got a first and second interview and we are waiting to hear if they selected him for the promotion. Keep your fingers crossed for him!

I am loving every minute of staying home. It's been so amazing to cook dinner every night for my little family. It's so nice to see my husband in the day light during the week and to be able to have a conversation with him face to face, instead of over the phone or face to sleeping face! The daycare can be slow going sometimes, it seems I may have upset a family by putting together a contract, but I'm just keeping at it. I know that there are families in my area that need childcare, I just have to find them! I love spending the day with my children and other's children - It's truly amazing.

For this first time this summer, and the first time in both my kiddo's lives we are going camping. Please allow me to tell you how excited I am. I'm not. I don't camp. I don't get dirty. I don't do bugs. I'm unsure how I will do with a two year old who has zero sense of boundaries and NO FEAR while I attempt to care for a 4 month old. Luckily there will be lots of family there - Clay's sister, his Mom, Dad, and two brothers will all be there but I hate relying on others to help me care for my children. I also don't want to be a terrible camping neighbor with a screaming infant in the middle of the night! Oh, it will be an adventure for sure!

I'm so excited for Fall! I'm not a fan of 100 degree weather, never have been. I can't wait for cool days, orange leaves and sweaters! Halloween is always a blast and Thanksgiving is such a special time of the year.

I can't believe my little baby is all grown up. He is so smart and cute and funny.

Well, that is all for now. I hope this finds everyone healthy and happy. Enjoy the last bit of summer!

Stay at home mom.

I am officially a stay at home mom! What a dream come true. I can't imagine my days any other way. I absolutely love my two handsome little men.

Owen is three months old today. Where has time gone?! He is rolling over, babbling all of the time and teasing me with the idea that he'll sleep through the night more than one night in a row.

Jack will be two years old on the 23rd! My baby boy is all grown up. It makes me cry thinking about him being able to walk, talk and eat a bowl of cereal all by himself. Seriously. He can eat a bowl of cereal with a spoon all by himself, even drink the milk from the bowl! No assistance required. He's such a big boy.

I will update with pictures later. Owen is looking like Jack so much these days. And Jack is copying everything Daddy does, which makes for really cute pictures.
